But it's supposed to be BROWN

While painting a basic headshot for a friend's character, I found the skin tone and overall look to be miserably bland. In a fit of art-rage, I started using purple and green and yellow and suddenly...I realized I CAN DO THAT. It's okay. It really is. Next time I'm pushing it even further, just watch me.

Serious Business

In preparation for Comic-Con, I have finally drafted up a card that I can give out to people, instead of writing my URL on their arm! Behold, my very first business card, it's probably not going to be the last.

Mural Madness!

A few weeks ago I was approached with the possibility of doing a mural for an up-and-coming preschool with lots to offer, and after speaking with the school's principal we agreed that an "It's a Small World" homage displaying good behavior characteristics would be fab! This is the result; stay tuned to see whether or not it pans out!

Hatter and Reds!

I know I just posted yesterday, but like I said, business is booming! This one has some personal significance to me, simply because I adore anything and everything Lewis Carrol, so getting commissioned to do something of this sort simply tickles my fancy!

(credit to GaiaOnline for the costume design, this art was based off of avatars created on one of my favourite paper doll websites ever!)

Monica the Dancer

Business is booming at The Art of Sarah Banning, mostly thanks to my Dad's awesome connections and undying faith in me! This last week I was commissioned by Monica Smith to create a character based on her as a small child, for kids in the audience to color in while they enjoy her performances!

The Black Sheep and Professor Pyg

Lately I've had a lot of sketch commissions, but today this one just filled me with delight as I drew every gritty bit of it. Professor Pyg is a lesser known Batman villain, doesn't he just make your skin crawl?

You are not a kitten! ...Are you?

Octoprincess!

My apologies for the lack of activity; this update is long over-due! It's been a hectic couple of months for me, but as the winter season makes its chilly journey inland, things are starting to be a bit more jolly around here. I hope you enjoy my most recent commission as much as I do, the Octoprincess!

Enya - character concept

A product of my own boredom while helping people with their cell phone problems. This is a character I was commissioned to do a painting of, but I decided to do a sketch on my own time just for funsies.

Gnomance

A commission for a friend of mine and her special someone, to reflect their first date when they went to see Gnomeo and Juliet. I think the bunnies are up to something...

The Snail-Eyed Man

The snail-eyed man; one of the main villains in the comic I'm developing. He's the head of The Mayor's secret police, and he loves to kidnap monsters who aren't keeping up on their protection...eep!

New Rocks and Lingerie...oh my!

Another pair of commissions, my how the time flies when you're answering support calls and painting while listening to people's problems!

Percival

There are a series of sketches floating about in my sketchbook that I have not had the chance to share with many people; I've been developing a comic for years, and I'm finally in a place where I can actually create something I'm comfortable with! I'll be feeding this blog intermittently with designs, concepts, and pages as I work my way through them.

A Spooky Stroll in the Park

I haven't updated my blog in a while, so I figured I'd get the ball rolling again with my most recent painting. This is part of a commission for my cousin, but the rest is top-secret!
